MSC Rewards Program Details (Terms and Conditions)

MSC Rewards Program awards points to travel agents enrolled in the MSC Rewards program by MSC Cruises (USA) Inc. herein referred to as MSC Cruises. The awarding of MSC Rewards Points and the redemption of Points is void where prohibited by law. If any provision of these MSC Rewards Program Details is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be severed from the remainder of these Terms and Conditions, which will otherwise remain in full force and effect.



Double Reward Points Program
Double Rewards Promotion is valid for travel agents residing in the United States. Agent must be enrolled in the MSC Rewards program to participate. Enrollment is free. Points will not be earned for MSC Cruises’ sailing sold/sailed prior to the date that the member’s enrollment application was processed as shown in MSC Cruises’ records. Only bookings made between May 23rd and June 30th 2011 are eligible for double points. Points are subject to approval by MSC Cruises. Group bookings are not applicable.

General Membership

1. MSC Rewards Membership and benefits are offered at the sole discretion of MSC Cruises. MSC Cruises has the right, without limitation, to change, limit, modify or cancel MSC Rewards membership, points, rewards and redemption levels at any time, with or without notice, even if such changes may affect / impact the value of points previously accumulated, the number or value of future points, the ability to use and/or redeem accumulated points and the thresholds that need to be achieved. MSC Cruises may interpret and/or apply program rules at its discretion and with or without notice may, among other things: (a) Alter, change, eliminate or place limitations on the manner in which rewards are earned and/or retained; (b) alter, change or put limitations on the value of the rewards or eliminate rewards altogether; (c) alter, change or eliminate rewards; (d) alter, change, eliminate or put limitation on the redemption thresholds; (e) alter, change and/or limit the manner in which rewards are redeemed.

Program Eligibility

1. The MSC Cruises Rewards Program is offered at MSC Cruise’s sole discretion and eligibility is restricted to individual travel agents who are residents of the United States or Canada, are registered on the www.msccruisesagent.com website and who have requested to be a member of the MSC Cruises Reward Program.

2. Only individuals are eligible for the MSC Rewards Program membership and each individual may maintain only one account. Corporations, groups and/or associated entities cannot enroll as MSC Rewards members. Employees of MSC Cruises and their subsidiaries are ineligible to participate in MSC Rewards.

3. Bookings done through or by tour operator and wholesaler are not eligible for the Rewards Program. Only Travel Agents that book directly with MSC Cruises are eligible for the Rewards Program.

4. The MSC Rewards program is established for retail agents to accumulate points for their own personal reward. MSC Cruises does not accept an accumulative version of this from any agency. MSC Cruises will decline requests inputted by an agency’s data entry clerk who submits bookings and redemption requests for multiple agents within the agency.

5. Only FIT bookings are eligible for MSC Rewards. Group bookings will no longer be eligible for the MSC Rewards program as of September 20, 2011.

Conditions of Enrollment

1. If more than one membership number is assigned to an individual, he/she will only receive points and/or rewards for one account. Account to be recognized is at the sole discretion of MSC Cruises. Accounts cannot be combined and duplicate accounts will be cancelled/terminated.  

2. Address changes that need to be made to your account can be done so by visiting your account online at www.msccruisesagent.com. Name changes must be done in writing and must include supporting legal documentation, signature, date and member account number. Each individual travel agent is responsible for advising MSC Cruises of any change of address. MSC Cruises will not be responsible in any way, under any circumstances for lost mail or incomplete mail.

3. All members will be able to use their usernames and passwords to gain access to restricted portions of the msccruisesagent.com site related to the MSC Rewards Program. All content on the website and MSC Cruises’ servers is confidential to MSC Cruises and is provided to members for personal use only. Respecting your privacy is a priority for us. However, in order to keep you apprised of your MSC Rewards Membership status, it is important that we send you certain program information that may include printed periodic statements of your account and other information necessary for administration; printed and/or email marketing materials and promotions from MSC Cruises.

4. Accrued Points do not constitute property of the member. Points have no value until presented by the member for redemption in accordance with the MSC Rewards Program Details. Points accrued by an MSC Rewards Program member are for the member’s benefit only and may not be transferred to anyone. Points are not divisible in case of separation, divorce, and bankruptcy or otherwise. Points are transferable to a legal spouse or domestic partner only in the case of documented death of the member (death certificate) along with a letter from the executor authorizing the transfer of points. Points are not transferable to another person for any other reason, including divorce or inheritance.


Accrual of Rewards Points (“Points”) in the Program and Conditions of Points

1. The program is based on points.  Eligible points earned in the program can be redeemed for cash based on a tiered redemption system.  Points vary depending on the length of the cruise.  Eligible points earned are solely for the benefit of the individual registered travel agent.

2. Travel Agents will be assigned an MSC Rewards number after applying for the program online at www.msccruisesagent.com. The MSC Rewards number must be provided by the time of final payment in order for points to be eligible. 

3. In order for points to register to member’s account, Travel Agents must enter online at www.msccruisesagent.com the corresponding booking number for each cruise sold.  Points are credited after sailing has taken place.  Please allow four to six weeks for points to be credited to an account.

4. Points, other than those issued in the pre-registration phase, will not be earned for an MSC Cruises’ sailing sold/sailed prior to the official launch date of the program of November 10, 2009. After the official program launch date, points will not be earned for MSC Cruises’ sailing sold/sailed prior to the date that the member’s application was processed as shown in MSC Cruises’ records. No retroactive credit will be given. Full ship charters, Travel Agent Rates, FAM Rates, Family & Friend Rates, Interline/Military Rates, Cruise Certificates and Future Cruise Credits are excluded from earning points. Only FIT are eligible.

5. Travel agents must have sold at least one cruise per calendar year in order for points to rollover into the following calendar year. “Sold Cruise” is defined as full payment received and recorded by MSC Cruises by the end of the calendar year. If no cruises are sold, all unused points will be forfeited/terminated.

6. No cash, credit or change will be given for points not used or that do not reach a rewards threshold level. Points are not transferable.

7. Each Travel Agent is personally responsible for ensuring that their points are properly credited. If proper credit does not appear on the member’s activity statement, the member should complete the Missing Sailing Request Form , along with a copy of the sailing confirmation to MSC Cruises MSC Rewards Program Administrator. Allow approximately four to six weeks for the sailing to be credited to your account. Requests to add or modify MSC Cruises sailings must be received within six months of the end of the sail cruise.

8. Points shall be redeemed by filling out the Point Redemption form located at the website www.msccruisesagent.com.  Please allow six to eight weeks to receive reward.

9. The MSC Rewards Membership points, rewards and redemption levels can be changed by MSC Cruises at anytime without notification. Such changes may impact the value of points previously accumulated, the number or value of future points and/or the ability to use/redeem accumulated points as well as the thresholds that need to be achieved to qualify for rewards. 

10. Blackout periods may be applied at anytime, without notice, to select sailings.

11. Rewards can be increased, decreased or withdrawn and restrictions may be placed on rewards or redemption at any time with or without notice.  Points and rewards shall not and can not be transferred, sold or reproduced.

12. Points will not be given or honored at any subsidiary or affiliate of MSC Cruises.

Termination/Cancellation

1. The MSC Rewards Program is offered at the sole discretion of MSC Cruises and with no predetermined termination date. MSC Cruises may suspend or terminate the Program at its discretion, in whole or in part, at any time for any reason with or without notice to individual members of the program.

2. MSC Cruises has the right to end the MSC Rewards Program by providing notice via e-mail to its members three months in advance of program termination. In that event, the right to earn and redeem points for rewards may end three months after notification is sent.

3. MSC Cruises may, without notice, suspend or terminate a member’s membership in the MSC Rewards Program, cancel a member’s account and cancel a member’s Points in the event of fraud, abuse of Program privileges and/or violation of these Terms.

4. In the case of fraud or abuse involving MSC Rewards point credit, redemption and/or reward use, MSC Cruises has the right to take any and all appropriate administrative and/or legal action, and all points and rewards earned through MSC Rewards may be forfeited and the account closed. All legal costs incurred by MSC Cruises will be the sole responsibility of the perpetrator.

5. If a member fails to pay any outstanding balance related to points for sailings earned, membership in MSC Rewards, including any rewards that may have been issued to a member, may be revoked or suspended at MSC Cruises Sole Discretion.

Responsibility for Tax

1. Rewards earned through MSC Rewards Program may be subject to tax liability. Any federal and/or provincial tax liability arising from the issuance or redemption of Points or the receipt of a Reward is the member’s responsibility. By accepting membership in the program, member’s consent that they understand MSC Cruises will not issue tax receipts.

2. Any tax liability, including disclosure, connected with the receipt or use of MSC Rewards Points or Rewards is the responsibility of the member.

3. The determination of tax liability arising out of the accrual or conversion of Points in the MSC Rewards Program shall be the sole responsibility of the member of the Program. Members of the MSC Rewards Program should refer to their tax advisor to resolve any such queries.

Release of Liability

Participants of the MSC Rewards Program agree that MSC Cruises and any of its affiliates, subsidiaries, or representatives are not responsible for and release them from any and all liability arising as a result of, including but not limited to, the following:

a) any unauthorized redemption of Points;

b) delays in delivery, or the loss or theft of any Rewards;

c) any errors or omissions regarding tracking of Point accumulation;

d) suspension or termination of the Program for any reason;

e) suspension or termination of membership in the Program, the closing of a
member’s account or the cancellation or invalidation of any or all of a
member’s Points;

f) any lost mail or incomplete mail.

Member agrees that in the event of any dispute against MSC Cruises (USA) Inc. or MSC Crociere S.A. relating to or arising from the MSC Rewards Program, member agrees that such suit shall be brought, if at all, in a court of competent jurisdiction in Miami-Dade County, Florida, to the exclusion of any other court or venue. Member agrees he or she shall not serve as a class representative in any class action case against MSC Cruises (USA) Inc. or MSC Crociere S.A.

The MSC Rewards Program Details (Terms and Conditions) constitute the entire agreement between MSC Cruises and participants of the program pertaining to the subject matter hereof and supersedes all prior or other arrangements, understandings, negotiations and discussions whether oral or written.
