MSC Cruises (USA) Inc.is the North American sales and marketing agent of MSC Crociere, SA, of Naples, Italy. This Italian-owned cruise line operates a fleet of ten cruise ships. It is part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company family, a privately-owned shipping group founded in 1970 and headquartered in Geneva. Specializing in ocean and intermodal transportation worldwide, Mediterranean Shipping Company is the 2nd largest container carrier in the world, with more than 300 container ships. Mediterranean Shipping Company was selected by Containerisation International as 1999 Company of the Year and by a Lloyd Loading List customer service poll as 1996 Shipping Line of the Year.

History
MSC Cruises was founded in 1990 by its owner and Chairman, Gianluigi Aponte, and currently operates ten vessels with one more vessel under construction slated for delivery by 2009.

Fleet
MSC Cruises has the most modern fleet in the world with ten ships: MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia (the largest ships built for a European ship owner), MSC Poesia, MSC Orchestra, MSC Musica, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Armonia, MSC Opera, MSC Lirica and MSC Melody. The fleet cruises year round in the Mediterranean and seasonally in Northern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, North America and Canada, South America, the Indian Ocean, South and West Africa. MSC Magnifica launches in 2010. MSC Cruises is the only company in the world to receive the “6 Golden Pearls” award from the Bureau Veritas in recognition of its high level of quality management and environmental protection. As a family-friendly cruise line, MSC Cruises cares about children and in providing a lasting and positive impact in the lives of those kids in need.
